Jürg Borer is the founder of the boutique law firm Borer Attorneys at Law Ltd. He is a leading expert in Swiss and European competition law. Further, he has established a strong reputation as a practitioner in energy and communication law. He advices national and international clients in high-profile administrative proceedings, merger control notifications and civil litigations.

 

After graduating from the University of St. Gallen (lic. iur. 1982, doctorate 1988 [summa cum laude]), he started his professional career as legal secretary at the Swiss Federal Supreme Court, continuing as a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute in Hamburg. Later, while heading the international legal service of the former Federal Office of Foreign Economic Affairs in Bern, he was involved in the preparatory work for the  Swiss Act on Cartels. Prior to founding his own boutique law firm, he was for more than twenty years a partner in two major business law firms in Zurich.

 

Jürg Borer is a lecturer at the University of Lucerne and Zurich and is the author of the commentary on the Swiss Federal Act on Cartels, among other publications on competition law.

 

He is listed as a leading practitioner for competition law in several international registries.

Matthias Amann graduated from the Universities of Zurich and Geneva in 1998 (lic. iur.), obtaining his doctorate at Zurich University with a thesis on merger control in 2000 (summa cum laude).

 

He started his professional career as a research assistant of Prof. Roger Zäch at Zurich law school. Subsequently, he was working for the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, where he was representing Swiss positions in international trade negotiations and acting as a member of the pre-legislative working group for the 2003 revision of the Swiss Act on Cartels. Later, he gained judicial experience in civil and criminal proceedings at cantonal appeal courts. Before joining Borer Law Ltd., Matthias Amann worked as a legal secretary at the Swiss Federal Administrative Court in cartel cases and as a counsel for competition law and litigation issues for a business law firm in Zurich.

 

Matthias Amann advises national and international clients in various industries and represents them before regulators, competition authorities or cantonal and federal courts. He is a member of both the Swiss and the Zurich Bar Association.

Laura Borer (admitted to the bar in 2014) represents national and international clients before regulators and competition authorities. In addition, she has a broad experience as litigator representing clients in complex matters involving commercial and civil law before state courts.

Laura Borer graduated from the University of Zurich in 2011 (lic. iur.). After completion of her studies at the law faculty, she clerked at the District Court of Meilen and then worked with a leading Zurich law firm, particularly in the field of corporate and data protection law. Before joining Borer Law Ltd., she worked several years with a dispute resolution firm focusing on commercial litigation.

She is a member of both the Swiss and the Zurich Bar Association.
